Offering one-on-one private sewing lessons for everything from ‘how to use your sewing machine’ to advanced dressmaking, historical techniques and quilting.

Teaching style is fun, friendly and fearless!  A great opportunity to have a blast learning from a professional seamstress / costume maker and hear some bonus stories about my work in films, television and the West End.

I have helped budding seamstresses master their machines, new mums whip up childrenswear and attention seekers pattern cut their next outragious costume.

A private lesson can either be a one off event focussed on a specific skill, or a short series of sessions to work on a particular project.  Happy to travel to your own home (so you don’t need to move your machine) or feel free to visit the Hatch End studio for a lesson.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Here are a few ideas of private lessons I do….

“I had one-on-one lessons with Jessica when I first started sewing clothes for my little girl.  Jessica talked me through the basics (i.e. setting up my sewing machine… I had a lot to learn) and patiently guided me through the process of cutting out my pattern, measuring, cutting and sewing a pair of stretch jersey leggings. She gave me top tips, such as how to put pins in, how to ensure the pattern went the right way… all the things that someone starting out wouldn’t know they didn’t know until it was too late.  A really fun day, and super satisfying to see the final product on my daughter.  I’ve been able to replicate the project at home (with some bonus virtual assistance from Jessica, via WhatsApp, on the things I forgot) and have made lots more jazzy leggings for my friend’s children. So happy with my new hobby.”      Becky,  Brixton.
