Who likes rabbits??
I picked up the current Mollie Makes magazine (issue 90) because it has this adorable Easter rabbit kit free with it. I thought it would make a very cute spring brooch. Highly recommend. The kit contains everything…you can literally open it and start straight away.
The design is by Kiriki Press who creates gorgeous embroidered plushy kits.
The finished rabbit will be 13cm ish but I’m going to wire the ears so I can flop them over. So quite a large brooch or hair accessory. Seriously cute.
In a nutshell…the kits has preprinted cotton which you embroidery onto, creating the rabbits features and it’s basket of carrots. You then turn the embroidery into a little plushy pillow. It could be a toy or an ornament….or a fashion accessories!
I added my own element to the project by making little wired ear inserts to go inside the ears. I traced the ear onto a scrap of the cotton with a pencil and stitched on some soft gardening wire. I then used the seam allowance to completely cover the dark green wire. Just before stuffing you insert these little wired pieces into the ears before sewing across the base of the ear (going through the wire loops to hold it secure). Then I’ll stuff the body to finish the plushie.
The delightful swan background paper was included in the same issue of molliemakes.
